💡 From Estate Sales to Learning Science: Treasure Hunting for What Truly Matters

I love wandering through an estate sale! Moving carefully through someone’s story, surrounded by pieces that once filled a home and a life. I’ll pick up something that speaks to me like an old book, a pretty teacup, or a cookie jar, and when I bring it home, it’s not just a new object in my home. I’m honoring the person who cherished it by giving it new purpose and care in your own space.
Learning design isn’t all that different. We’re surrounded by new tools, trends, and tech promising to “revolutionize” how we teach and train. And while innovation keeps our work exciting, the true artistry comes from honoring what’s already proven to endure—the science behind how people actually learn.
Principles like cognitive load, retrieval practice, and spaced repetition are the timeless elements of ID. When we build upon those fundamentals while layering in design and creativity, we create learning experiences that are both innovative and lasting.
Just like those beloved treasures passed from one home to another, learning experiences rooted in science carry meaning, quality, and care.
Built to last and designed to make a difference.
Here’s to honoring what’s timeless while creating what’s next.
