Senior Instructional Systems Designer

Using project management and learning theory to design and develop solutions that improve performance. Support organizational strategies and goals for Intelligence Community and Department of Defense clients.

• Deliver Results. Collaborated with clients to design and implement innovative learning strategies, resulting in improved learner engagement and performance outcomes.

  • Designed and developed a blended biological familiarization program for adult professional audiences — delivering complex, regulated content on biological threats, mitigation strategies, outbreak response, and compliance reporting through classroom instruction, hands-on labs, web-based training, and non-immersive VR. Partnered with scientific subject matter experts to translate highly technical material into accessible learning experiences that supported performance in high-consequence environments.

  • Led cross-functional teams through the project management of National Geospatial-Intelligence College learning solutions, using Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams to coordinate tasks, track milestones, manage documentation, and ensure high-quality, on-time delivery to the end-user audience.

  • Consultant on a training revamp initiative, streamlining instructional design processes and recommending technology integrations to improve efficiency. Designed and developed multiple eLearning courses by converting instructor-led content to online formats, expanding global access to training while reducing reliance on instructor availability. Additionally, coordinated a week-long training event with over 45 sessions for 300+ participants.

• AI-Assisted Instructional Design. Leverage AI as a design collaborator to draft course content, develop project plans, generate Bloom’s-aligned learning objectives, and structure assessments—maintaining human review at every stage. Reduced content development cycle time by integrating AI into analysis, design, and development phases while preserving instructional integrity and alignment to performance outcomes. Mentor team members on effective, responsible use of AI in the instructional design workflow.

• Leadership. Directed cross-functional teams of learning strategists, ISDs, multimedia specialists, technical editors, and compliance evaluators to deliver high-quality, instructionally sound, engaging training solutions—consistently meeting or exceeding customer deadlines.

• Learning Analytics. Apply Kirkpatrick Four Levels and ADDIE + Agile methodology to analyze learning requests, perform needs assessment, and establish business justification for each solution. Research internal and external options — including performance support, workshops, and formal courses — to address validated and emerging learning needs for adult learner audiences.  

• Change Champion. Met customer’s challenge to revise processes for increased agility. Developed and implemented a forward-leaning solution that combined customer’s best practices using ADDIE with a 4-cycle Agile approach that incorporates timeboxing and prevents “scope creep” and project delays. Reduced design and development timelines and improved quality of curriculum.

• Collaboration & Workflow Optimization. Proficient in utilizing Jira and Confluence for effective project management, including tracking progress, managing tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Experienced in creating detailed project documentation and timelines within Confluence, while leveraging Jira for sprint planning, issue tracking, and reporting. Adept at streamlining workflows and ensuring timely delivery of instructional design projects.

• Veteran Advocate. Founded and chaired the Military and Veteran Employee Resource Group, conducting needs analysis with military-affiliated community members and designing programs that increased visibility, access to earned benefits, and support resources. Partnered with internal stakeholders to advocate for policy improvements that measurably improved the member experience for this employee audience.

• Virtual Facilitation. Led the design and delivery of blended learning programs that integrated synchronous and asynchronous components to promote critical thinking and learner engagement. As Technical Producer and co-facilitator, managed all aspects of virtual delivery—orienting users to platforms, supporting live sessions, and ensuring seamless technical execution—while enhancing the learning experience through interactive strategies, microlearning, and ongoing learner support.

• Academic Engagement. Cultivate partnerships with academia, industry, and government agencies to support market research, solution identification and validation, and learning event management and execution.

Lead Instructional Designer/Learning Strategist

BOOZ ALLEN HAMILTON LLC 

Served as Technical Lead for a team of instructional designers supporting federal agency clients, including NGA College, NGA Center for the Study of GEOINT, and NRO University. Established quality assurance processes, maintained program documentation, and ensured instructional consistency across deliverables for adult professional audiences.

• eLearning Standards & Resource Hub. Authored standard operating procedures for eLearning development, establishing consistent quality standards across the team. Designed an online resource hub providing best practices and guidance for course development, accessed by all instructional designers and multimedia staff.

• Faculty & Designer Training. Introduced Articulate authoring tools to the client organization. Coordinated and delivered training for 100% of the instructional design and multimedia staff on tool use, accessibility standards, and quality requirements. Sustained professional development with each software release to maintain delivery quality.

• Course Review & QA. Conducted course reviews against established standards. Provided actionable recommendations to designers for continuous improvement of instructional products.

• Learning Management System Support. Supported deployment and maintenance of training within the Blackboard Learn LMS. Configured course structures, uploaded content, and supported instructor and learner use.

• NRO University Course Delivery (2012). Contributed to the delivery of Strategic Planning, Foundations of Leadership, and Foundations of Management courses. Reviewed course materials and collaborated on storyboards and course structure for the Collaborative Learning Environment on Networks (CLEON).

• NGA Center for the Study of GEOINT, Learning Strategist (2013). Captured best practices and translated client requirements into instructionally sound learning solutions. Adapted GEOINT tradecraft into scenario-based, introductory-level web-based training.
